Losing Energy: For every Action a character performs, ten energy points are subtracted from a character’s total energy points. When a character’s energy reaches zero, they will “Faint.” Recovering from Fainting will always reset characters’ energy to 50 (see the Fainting section below for more information about fainting.
Recovering Energy: Eating and sleeping in a shelter will recover energy. Eating is the fastest way to recover energy. Dan, Books, and Rusty can either eat food that Dan captured while hunting, or they can eat berries collected in the Gather game. When a character eats food, their energy meter increases. A character can eat multiple pieces of food at one time and increase their energy quickly. Keep in mind, players can only eat food caught by Dan when they are in the same area as Dan. Also, berries are not available in every area on the island, so plan well!
When Dan, Books, and Rusty spend the night in a Shelter each will receive 20 Energy. If Dan, Books and Rusty do not sleep in a shelter overnight, their energy level will drop by 30 points at the start of the next game-day.
Actions are the primary measurement of the length of a game day; equivalent to hours of daylight (displayed on the Main Screen). Each new game day begins with 12 Actions used by Dan, Books, and Rusty on activities such as moving, hunting, building, exploring, studying, etc., which yield rewards but also cost Energy. Each Action completed costs one action point. Once all of your 12 Action points are used (the screen shows a 0 in the Action box), the current game day officially ends. At the start of the next new game day, Action points are reset to 12 and the Day counter is incremented by one.
